Well thats the festive season over for another year....Where does the time go? Spent New Year hobbling around on my 'bionic foot' and crutches. Fortunately I have been able to take it off when sitting down or sleeping. I went to see the physiotherapist this morning. I thought it was going to be a relaxing affair, but oh no, she had other ideas!
My foot was pulled, pushed and stretched in every conceivable direction as she tried to undo all that tightening that occurs when you don't use part of your body for a while. I could feel my tendons and ligaments protesting as they were rudely awakened from their slumber and, at one point, I nearly leapt off the couch as I tried to recoil from the pain! Then, after a little rest, I was told to walk up and down the ward and to concentrate on rolling the injured foot as it should do when fully fit. I was quiet surprised how easy it felt after all that manipulation.
I am now allowed to walk around the house without my bionic support. Going up the stairs is ok, but coming down again is difficult as the foot 'roll' isn't all there yet but i'm going to keep at it though. Got the next appointment on Friday.
